Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to Start Within Recovery and Daren O'Neill when you contact the website, send a message, use WhatsApp, arrange a call, or ask about recovery support, family support, sober companion work or referral guidance.
Information you may choose to share
You may provide your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, location, the type of support needed and a message about what is happening. Because this is a recovery support website, your message may include health, addiction, family or safeguarding information. Please only share what is necessary for Daren to understand the situation and respond.
Why information is used
Information is used to reply to your enquiry, assess whether Daren is the right person to help, arrange a call, provide agreed support, manage records, improve safety, meet legal obligations and protect people where there is a serious safeguarding or emergency concern.
Lawful basis
Enquiry information is usually processed because you have asked Daren to respond, because there is a legitimate interest in managing enquiries and services, or because it is necessary to take steps before entering an arrangement for support. Where you choose to share health or recovery information, it is handled with extra care and only for the purpose of responding to your request and assessing support, safety and suitability.
Who information may be shared with
Information is not sold. It may be handled through website hosting, form, email, phone or WhatsApp services. It may be shared with treatment providers, family members, professionals or emergency services only where you ask for that, where it is necessary for agreed support, or where there is a serious legal, safeguarding or safety reason.
International work
Daren works across the UK, Bali, Spain and remotely. Some communication tools and service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, information should be handled only as needed for communication, support, administration or legal compliance.
How long information is kept
Enquiries that do not become active support are normally kept only as long as needed to respond and manage follow-up. Records connected to agreed support, safety, safeguarding, administration or accounting may be kept longer where necessary. Information should not be kept indefinitely without a reason.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal information, subject to legal and safeguarding limits. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how personal information is handled.
Photos and stories
Client stories, testimonials and identifiable photos should only be used with permission. Public photos on the site are not proof of any person's treatment outcome.
