Listen first
I begin by understanding what is happening, what has already been tried and what kind of support may fit.
Recovery is not just something I understand. It is something I have lived.
I spent 25 years battling addiction and have now been sober and in recovery for more than 10 years.
My journey has taken me through recovery programmes and communities in the UK, Spain and Bali, giving me first-hand experience of different approaches to healing, personal growth and lasting recovery.

"You can only start the work when you're ready to start within."
Darren O'Neill, Start Within Recovery
For more than a decade, I co-founded and managed a supervised living organisation for young people aged 18 to 24 from challenging backgrounds, including those affected by addiction, trauma and bereavement.
I was responsible for managing the organisation and overseeing the wellbeing of the young people in our care. I worked closely with psychiatrists, doctors, senior counsellors and other professionals to make sure each young person received the right support, guidance and care.
During this time, I helped young people rebuild their confidence, develop important life skills and work towards a safer, more positive and independent future.
The organisation continues to support vulnerable young people across West London, and I remain incredibly proud of what we created. The experience gave me a deep understanding of people, recovery and the importance of consistent, compassionate support.

As a father of four adult children, I understand the value of family, trust and genuine human connection. These values are at the heart of the way I support people today.
My mission is simple. I want to help people see that recovery is possible.
I understand how difficult it can be to take the first step because I have been there myself. I also know the freedom that recovery can bring and that lasting change is possible with the right support, honesty, compassion and guidance.
Whether you are at the beginning of your recovery or looking for continued support, I am here to walk alongside you with understanding, integrity and hope.
I begin by understanding what is happening, what has already been tried and what kind of support may fit.
My coaching focuses on structure, accountability and realistic next steps in day-to-day life.
I provide non-clinical support and will recommend specialist or emergency help when a situation needs it.
