How much does a recovery coach cost in the UK?
Straight answers on pricing, because almost nobody in this industry publishes their fees, and that makes a hard decision harder.
Recovery coaching in the UK is unregulated. There is no statutory body, no fixed fee scale, and coaches set their own prices. That means the range is wide, and it also means you should ask any coach directly about their training, experience and fees before committing. A good coach will welcome those questions.
Typical price ranges in 2026
Based on published rates from UK and international providers, here is what the market currently charges:
| Service | Typical range |
|---|---|
| One to one recovery coaching (weekly sessions) | £80 to £250 per session, or monthly packages |
| Coaching, premium hourly (agency rates) | $200 to $400 per hour |
| Sober companion, part day | $600 to $1,200 per day |
| Sober companion, live-in 24/7 | $1,000 to $4,000 per day |
| Sober transport (accompanied travel) | From around €1,000 per day where flights are involved |
| Residential rehab, for comparison | £4,000 to £30,000+ per week |
What you're actually paying for
Coaching is not therapy and it is not rehab. It sits between peer support groups and clinical treatment. You are paying for structure, accountability, a plan for real life, and regular contact with someone who has lived experience of recovery. For most people the highest-risk window is the first weeks and months after treatment ends, and that is exactly where coaching earns its money.

How to choose a coach
Ask what training they hold, whether they belong to a professional body or code of ethics, how they work, and what happens if things get difficult. Ask for an initial call before committing to anything longer. If a coach dodges questions about qualifications or pressure-sells a long package on the first call, walk away.
